Diet sodas cause weight gain? not so fast. what the research says about whether diet drinks are culprits, bystanders, or sweet tooth enablers.. I switched from drinking soda with sugar to drinking diet thinking cutting those calories would help me lose weight. i actually gain weight drinking diet soda! however, don’t switch to sugar sodas if you are drinking diet at the moment. if you are going to cut one bad habit try not to replace it with another.. So it seems logical that replacing one with the other should help you lose weight, or at least stay the same weight. but no--several studies have proved conclusively that drinking diet soda is.
